Minute= s approved as circulated.
Great = turn out to council supported family skate night. Acknowledgement to council for arranging the community room as this was a wonderful tool for parent connection. Thanks to the volunteers for helping with ice and hot chocolate duty.
Deb ac= knowledged the work completed in her absence by her replacements. Deb also thanked cou= ncil for the flowers and kind words.
Throug= h Halton Learning Foundation,$500 received in response to fall application
Enviro= nment program application accepted for $700.
&nb= sp; HDSB provided $15,000 to support literacy.
Staffi= ng: Numbers submitted for 09/10 with projection of 320 students which reflects a reduction in student numbers (predominantly JK)
Facili= ty submission under Capital Renewal for lighting and replacement of library ca= rpet ($7,000 - $10,000)
Facili= ty Renewal - $2,300 Budget (budget decrease reflective of decreased board enrollment)<= /span>
&nb= sp; Traf= fic Study at Glenview: Results to be discussed with committee on Feb 24/09
Deb re= flected on the $’s spent on Scientist in the School. Deb thanked council for the= ir support. The teachers mentioned that it would be great to maintain ongoing school resources to support the learning.
Paul t= hanked council for the family skate night.
Teache= rs and students appreciated the recent author visit. Authors books are available in the library.
Ski tr= ip booked for this Friday.
Glenvi= ew primary and junior choir will be singing both anthems at the Bulldogs game this Sun= day. High turn out is anticipated.
Feb 24= th is Pancake Day.
Feb 25= th School Presentation from “Down to Earth” in celebration of Black History Month.
Nutrit= ious Snack Program: Ongoing review of mandate and role. Please email Julie Thompson at= Thomson.jl@pg.com with any feedback regarding the snack program.
6. Treasurer’s Report
Accoun= t balance of $17,240.24 as of Feb 14/09 (December and January account reconciliation = was completed)
Alloca= tion of Funds:
Recomm= endation to fully fund maps ($1,000) and snack program ($2,500) and an equal split of remaining funds between literacy ($4,250) and technology ($4,250).
Recomm= endation passed with consensus.
Karen = Stringer reviewed Council mandate from HDSB web site which included annual review of school constitution and by-laws.
Volunt= eers asked to participate in sub-committee to review school constitution; Volunteers included Karen Stringer/Karen Rushforth, Anthony Brugess, Jill Randall and Karen Walker-Hogan.
Kinder= garten: Council reviewed anticipated decrease in Kindergarten enrollment. Deb was a= sked if full day Kindergarten planning was in progress. This remains outstanding= at this time.
School= Calendar Year: Board vote will be occurring tomorrow relative to anticipated start d= ate for 09/10 school year.
Market= ing/Public Relations: Opportunity to consider assignment of council member to Marketing/Public Relations role. Glenview is considered an “Open̶= 1; school due to student capacity providing a rich opportunity for growth.
