School trip to see= Beauty & The Beast was successful. French Immersion – Grade 1 presentation was held for those considering the program for their children.

DARE – Gr. 6= starts this month (Jan). 10 week pro= gram.

Pep Rally was held= for the volleyball team on their way to the Killbride tournament.=

JK registration no= w taking place. There has been a lot of interest in Glenview this year.

Tribes Assembly ne= xt week – the Right to Participate/Pass.

Alexander Pallenti= ni raised money for children in Uganda by making Christmas ornaments.

School Effectivene= ss Plan

We have been ident= ified as an OFIP (Ontario Focussed Intervention Program.) school needing academic support due to flatlining results in the EQAO. We are one of 42 schools. Funding of $14K to purchase Literary Place resources will be provided and an OFIP group has been established. We need to support our non-fiction resources school wide. Numera= cy resources also to be provided to each teacher Tribes a major focus for Glenview students and teachers. Safety= & Well Being is the next subject. Time is provided to teachers to prepare.

P.D. Day on Jan. 3= 0^th.

Teachers from local schools meeting at Central with consultants Reading is the focus. Gr.5 treachers to meet with other = Gr. 5 teachers from other schools to share ideas and resources. Teacher observations encouraged. OFIP also on the agenda.

Glenview receives 41K.

The question of in= vesting in Smart Boards was raised as a consideration for better use of technology = i.e. posting into teacher websites, homework, assignment info. The touch-sensitive display connect= s to your computer and digital projector to show your computer image. You can th= en control computer applications directly from the display, write notes in dig= ital ink and save your work to share later.

3. Paul Thomson

The Write to Produ= ce program students will be working with Board consultants to create public service announcements. Their = work can be nominated for an award “The Eddy”. The public service announcements w= ill be shown to the school.

Russell Williams d= onating pancake mix for Pancake Day.

4. Skate Night- rent community room for $30 and serve hot chocolate = 211; great way for parents to mingle. Ice available from 6-7pm for $216. Funding for Skate Night approved.

Wrong date was ori= ginally communicated. Will change to correct date and communicate in the Communiqué. Leyland is the contact for Pancake Day. A generator is available for use during Pancake Day in case the electrical cu= ts out from all the griddle pans plugged in.&= nbsp; 5 people have volunteered from council to help out for Pancake Day.<= o:p>

$300 approved for = Pancake Day expenses.

Skate Night volunt= eers needed. Parents need to stay and supervise their children. This is a family night.=

5. Auction fundraising proceeds communicated. We have the full amount of $12K available to be used in the areas previously voted on: liter= acy, technology, maps and snack program. Deb spoke with the teachers and they have indicated that technology would be a priority.

Our financial fore= cast indicates we will have sufficient funds available to fund the rest of our regular events.

$450 to be donated= to DARE program.

6. Mary Dilly: Central air for school discussed. Answer expected be= fore end of school year.

7. Allocation of auction proceeds amounts to each of our four fundraising areas delayed until next meeting as several members were absent and it was felt their presence is required when decidin= g as a group on distribution amounts.

8. Mary Dilly - Playground structures potentially under review. New guidelines indicate that our structures may need to be replaced. This would be paid for by the board. 2011 is the replacemen= t year based on needs. Playgrounds have a typical lifespan of about 10-15 years. The city is implementing standards= for neighbourhood playgrounds.

9. Karen Steinke, Treasurers Report –= Nov. bank reconciliation presented. Bank balance as of Nov.31 is $21,404.68. That includes auction proceeds.

10. Halton Food for Thought fundraiser info packag= e to be requested and sent home to parents.&nbs= p; Money goes to Halton Food for Thought to raise awareness of needs and program. 5000 kids in Halton = go to school without lunches, hat mitts, school supplies...

11. Council inventory cupboard – will send e= mail of contents to council. Conte= nt list also posted on cupboard door.

12. Parking lot committee formed to address sidewa= lks in neighbourhood. Maplehurst students are bussed in and picked up at Glenview – parent questioned why this took place considering our lot and bus turnaround is already congested. Committee to address the overall safety of school pick up and drop off. It was suggested that another remi= nder to parents about acceptable drop off practices be sent out again.

13. Parent Jay Drobnich presented the Easy Child F= ind program – software scans child’s fingerprints and dental impres= sion and works with law enforcement. Would like to know if a table could be made available at no cost for= the Easy Child Find program to communicate this service. Program is associated with Child F= ind.
