    1. Nominations received have been acclaimed to their position
    2. Outgoing council members were acknowledged for their contribution to council
    3. An error was acknowledged on the nomination forms which should read,  if individuals miss two consecutive meetings (without advance notice) they will be considered resigned from council.

    1. Karen Stringer-Janicijevic and Karen Rushforth reviewed the council structure, role and voting rights. Parents are encouraged and supported in attending meetings as non-voting members.

  1. Teacher’s Update
    1. Thanks to parents for participating in “Walk to School Day”
    2. Kidssentials continuing with success
    3. Grade 1 Energy – Scientist in the school and Grade 5 visit planned
    4. Safety Village trip
    5. QDF Halloween parade on October 31st
    6. Invitation to members and parents to attend Remembrance Day ceremony at Glenview
    7. Home of Hope campaign: Exciting partnership for Glenview. A presentation was given to school by orphanage representatives from Malawi. Glenview is honoured to have a student with us who has had this past experience.
    8. E-awareness – Focus on safety in the electronic environment.
    9. Volunteer opportunities: Always an opportunity to help support Mrs. Wigle in the library
    10. Request from council to provide the electronic link to the Grade 6 curriculum.
    11. Karen Hogan Walker asked the school to consider an assembly to support Black History Month
  2. Financial Update
    1. No changes since last month report
    2. Current balance is approximately  $7714
  3. Fundraising
    1. Suggestion to write parents to ask for their assistance in prioritizing items on the wish list to focus fundraising activities. Discussion ensued regarding our go-forward process. Suggestion to provide the opportunity for parents to provide feedback on major fundraising goals either through individual home communication vs published agenda.

Decision: Communicate through pre-circulated agenda

    1. Request for Deborah and Paul to initially prioritize the list, feedback included;

                                                           iv.      Scientists in the classroom

                                                             v.      Drama presentations

    1. Council discussed approving and funding some items on the wish list now with existing resources;

                                                               i.      Items for immediate funding include; calculators, data projector, tribe posters, drama presentations, $1000 towards Scientists in the Classroom, Overhead Projectors  (Total $3650)

    1. Options

                                                               i.      Magazine Fundraiser : Other schools raised $2,000- $70,000

                                                             ii.      Green Student Fundraising : Includes an educational component along with environmentally friendly products : Benchmarked profit $500

                                                            iii.      Christmas Live and Silent Auction: Benchmarked profit $6,000 –

    $10,000.

Decision:  Approved by council as fall fundraiser. Date tentatively scheduled for last week in November.
